Any opinions of this review ?

I think it wasn't a bad review but the one thing that I felt wasn't very good was when he said that the guest artist's weren't allowed to shine rolleyes.gif or words to that effect . One question : Whose project is These Days ? IMO all the artist who worked on These Days were honored to be involved with someone of Vince's stature just as he has said he choose the artist who he had always wanted to work with .

I agree, Anna. It sounded like he wanted some kind of duet album but Vince said he wasn't looking to do that. It sounded like this critic doesn't understand and appreciate BGVs on an album.

I agree - it is NOT a CD full of "duets" - The 4 duet songs clearly say "duet"...the rest say "guest vocals"....so they are suppose to be background....some you can hear more clearly than others depending on how they "blend" with Vince. smile.gif

Not sure if anyone posted this but here is the review from Billboard magazine:

These DaysVINCE GILLRelease Date: October 17, 2006
Producer(s): Vince Gill, John Hobbs, Justin Niebank
Genre: COUNTRY
Label: MCA Nashville

Vince Gill has added his golden guitar and tenor voice to innumerable country projects, and noncountry acts ranging from Barbra Streisand to the Chieftains frequently come calling. So it's no surprise that when Gill approached some of his favorites to appear on this remarkable four-disc set, everyone from Sheryl Crow, Del McCoury and Bonnie Raitt came running. Ranging from traditional country and bluegrass to jazz and rock, the package has four distinct components—"Workin' On a Big Chill: The Rockin' Record," "The Reason Why: The Groovy Record," "Some Things Never Get Old: The Country & Western Record" and "Little Brother: The Acoustic Record"—and Gill had a hand in writing all 43 tracks. There's a lot to love here and picking a favorite is nearly impossible, but Gill's duet with Diana Krall on "Faint of Heart" evokes images of an intimate performance in a dark, smoky bar that draws the listener right in. —Kristina Tunzi

Very good review and I absolutely LOVE Faint Of Heart.

I had heard that song before (only vocal )on a cd called Benoit ,Freeman Project 2 .Strictly jazz instrumental .I think that's amazing .

Anna, are your referring to the song "Two Survivors" on the "Benoit/Freeman Project 2" CD? That's the only one on which Vince sings. Forgive me if I've misunderstood your post, but it reads as though you're talking about "Faint of Heart" being on that CD...(?) Anyway, Vince sounds like a classic lounge crooner on this tune, from 2004, and I can see where he may have been encouraged to write a stylistically similar song ("Faint Of Heart") more recently.

Yes, you are absolutely correct.
