Saw Vince at Mechanics Hall, Worcester, MA on Thursday. Just sensational. performed about 60%of new material and a half dozen favorites. Played two ninety minute plus sets. Must have told stories after every tune. Acoustics were not great. but can't complain, when getting to see Vince in such a small hall. Be interested in any other reviews. Vince is the man.
I was also at the Worcester show. It was a spectacular performance by Vince and his awesome band. I thought the sound was great where I sat in the 4th row on the right. Vince outdid himself really. I've seen countless Vince Gill concerts over the last 15 years and he continues to amaze me each and every time. The new material is outstanding!! My favorite is "What You Give Away" and Vince saved it for last...I was beside myself with joy!!! Vince was his usual charming self. He told us some great stories about his Dad.
I met Heather at the show. She had won backstage meet and greets through the fan club....way to go Heather!! Well, she told us where the buses were parked...and thanks to this tip, we were able to meet Vince about a half hour after the show. I had my booklet from the new boxed set signed and had my picture taken with a very exhausted, but graciously kind Vince.
The powers that be at Mechanics Hall said no flash photography, but some people were taking pics...so I took some...not as many as I normally would. There was no way I was leaving without a few pics of Vince on this historic concert tour!!! Vince joked about having given up playing the fiddle because he wasn't good at it and he has 17 chins when he plays. Well, he played the fiddle and warned if he saw any flashes he would personally confiscate our cameras. Well, I snapped two pics...and a few others did as well. Of course in the middle of the song he said "I saw a flash." Uh oh...but no luck...he didn't come take my camera away!!! Those pics came out pretty good and I will try to download them to the site...sorry, Vince!! I must say Vince is looking quite slim these days..."weigh to go, Vince".
If you get a chance to go to one of Vince's concerts on this tour....crawl, walk, run...do whatever you have to, but get there!! It is just a magical musical experience. Vince is so gifted. Through his music, he moves our hearts and souls!! Thank you God, for the many talents of Vince Gill!!
