It's that time of year to get out and do your civic duty (or here in Oregon we do it all by mail)...and VOTE.

Not going to start a political dicussion - no need - this is a music board.

No matter which party you belong to, what you believe in, I just wanted to encourage everyone to vote. I see it as our duty as Americans.

It's sad when only 45% or so of eligible voters actually vote in our democracy (that means a huge number of voters just don't vote).

If 75% of the Iraqis can make it to the polling stations and actually vote - It astonishes me we can rarely get above 50% voting (and we don't have to worry about bombs or guns at the polls!). (JMHO)

Good luck to All. biggrin.gif

I'll be there too, always am though because I'm an election worker!
I agree it is kind of sad to sit there some days and not have many people coming into use their freedom to vote. sad.gif It is always nice to register a new 18 year old voter though. smile.gif

I just returned yesterday from a 10 day visit with my 96 year old Mother in Salem. While there I helped her fill out her ballot and mailed it in. She is very interested in politics and, of course, her Trailblazers. After all those days of watching the TV commercials about Oregon's issues and candidates I feel much more interested in how they turn out than in my own states.

I usually do vote in every election. But don't know what to do this time. Particularly in the Governor's election....I really don't want to see the incumbent be re-elected and the other candidate is no better. I'm considering a 'write-in' vote this time..first time ever...I do want to do my civic duty, but would also like to send a message that I don't want either one of the candidates running for Govenor to win. May not do any good at all, but I can't bring myself to vote for either one of them...sad huh???
