Before you got the boxed set, were there any songs that you were particularly keen to hear based on having listened to the clip ? And did the song live up to your expectation ?

I had heard a River Like You in concert before - so I was excited it was finally on CD - and yes with Vince and Jenny singing it is perfect on CD.

Also, I was curious to hear Vince in "jazz singer" mode with Diana Krall - it shows Vince can take on any genre and make it his own! Not a country song but a classic jazz song nontheless! smile.gif

I have to pick the same two songs as Charlie. I had heard Vince sing "A River Like You" at the Opry several years ago (and have a rbad recording of it *L*) and even asked Vince in the Q/A on the other site if he had any plans to record it...at the time he didn't, mainly because he had just written a song called The River with Amy, so I was anxious to hear that song.

Same with Faint of Heart...I was at the Opry when he debuted Faint of Heart as a solo, so I was looking forward to hearing it as a duet. I also heard the song when he did it on the Opry with Diana Krall...at the time I thought I liked the song as a solo better than a duet, but on the record, it just works so well as a duet, and it reminds me of songs from the 1930s/1940s, even though I wasn't even thought of back then (so my basis is on what I hear on TV *L*)...it just has that 'feel' of being from the era.

I heard Vince and Diana do Faint Of Heart at The Ryman and in June I told Vince that they knocked it out of the park on that one and he said ,"if you liked it then, wait until you hear it on the record". So I was pretty anxious to hear this one .I really like this song as I have said many times. Vince can do any type of music as well as anyone and better than most .
