I know it might be hard to remember back so far sometimes but I am curious to know how long you have been a Vince Gill fan. I have been a fan for approximately 15-16 years now. I was hooked when I first heard his voice & have loved him ever since!
So now what about you?? How long have you been a fan?

i became a Vince fan in August 1992 when I heard Vince sing I Still Believe In you for the first time. I couldn't get over the sweet voice I was hearing. Then I went to buy the cassette at the time and seen his picture. I said well that's icing on the cake a sweet voice and very handsome, too! i attended my first concert in Louisville, KY in 1994 and haven't stopped since.

My husband and I first went to see Vince when he opened for Tammy Wynette at a small county fair in MI. It was in 1991. We have been staunch fans ever since, having attended 90 of his concerts so far, all over the country. He's the best!

First time I remember having seen/heard Vince, was on (I think )the ACM's. I believe it was the show he made reference to at the last ACM when he accepted his Humanitarian Award and he said 20 years before he stood on the stage in a gray suit and accepted the award for best new boy singer. I just knew this guy was going to be hugh .I have loved his music ever since .Being in the VGFC has really helped me to get to know him. There are so many of you who have met him a lot and got to talk more to him. In my family we are Elvis,Osmonds and Beatles..................to me Vince is all that rolled into one

1983 for me! It was at the Houston Astrodome and Vince was Rosanne Cash's guitarist. She brought him to the front to introduce and showcase him. He was so bashful - kept his head down, and nearly brought the roof off that enormous Dome!!! Rosanne was so proud of him as she told us to keep our eyes and ears opened for this guy! From that moment on ----- I DID! WOW! He was so fun to watch that night. So young, full of energy, and he would just go into that famous trance even back then! I loved watching him. He sang a solo that night, and it was absolutely breath-taking!
I told Vince at the luncheon in June about that night. He said, "oh yeah, do you remember who opened for us that night?" I told him I couldn't remember, and he started laughing and said, "it was George Strait!" We really laughed at that. Vince said, "I get to brag that George Strait opened for ME!" AND, I told him, "well, yeah ---- he should!" Vince cracked up. I told him ---- "see there, I didn't remember George Strait, but I certainly remembered you!" He thanked me! WHY WOULDN'T I REMEMBER HIM? He stole the show!!!!!!!!!!!

I BECAME A VINCE GILL FAN IN 1995 WHEN I SEEN HIM ON SOME AWARD SHOWBACK IN 1989 HE WAS SINGING" I STILL BELIEVE IN YOU" I THINK. I FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM RIGHT THEN. BEFORE HIM I HAD A BIG CRUSH ON RANDY TRAVIS AND MY DAD WOULD ALWAYS SAY JOYCE YOUR MAN IS ON TV. THAT WAS BACK IN THE EARLY 80'S WHEN I WAS LIVING AT HOME. THEN IN 1989 I CHANGE TO VINCE INSTEAD OF RANDY AND MY DAD WOULD SAY JOYCE YOUR MAN IS ON TV. I SAID DAD RANDY IN NOT MY MAN ANYMORE IT IS VINCE. THEN A LOT OF THING HAPPEN BETWEEN 1989-1995. IN 1989 MY FAMILY AND I MOVED FROM A BIG HOUSE TO A SMALLER HOUSE. 1990 I GOT MARRIED. 1991 MY HUSBAND AND I BUILT ON A BEDROOM TO OUR HOUSE CAUSE I WAS PREGNANT WITH OUR FIRST CHILD. 1992 OUR SON WAS BORN I WAS LAID UP FOR 6 WEEKS AFTER HAVIN A C-SECTION. I STILL LISTEN TO VINCE ON THE RADIO OR CMT. 1994 WE HAD OUR SECOND SON THE ONE WHO IS DISABLED HE HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS SO I WAS KIND OF STRANDED FOR 2 YEARS CAUSE OF MY SON I REALLY COULDN,T GO VERY FAR BECAUSE HE HAD A TRACH. FINALLY I DECIDED I WANTED TO BECOME A FAN MEMBER. THEN MY HUSBAND STARTED TO LIKE HIM AND ASKED ME IF I WOULD LIKE TO GO SEE HIM IN CONCERT I SAID YESSS!!!!!! I VERY FIRST VINCE GILL CONCERT WAS OUTSIDE AT THE RICHLAND COUNTY FAIR IN MANSFIELD,OHIO IN 1996. IT WAS OK I COULDN'T SEE HIM OR HEAR HIM VERY WELL BUT THE NEXT YEAR WE WENT 1997 THE OHIO STATE FAIR IT WAS INSIDE I COULD REALLY SEE HIM AND HEAR HIM IT WAS VERY LOUD. AND AFTER THAT 1998 I SAW HIM SAME PLACE OHIO STATE FAIR, 1998 I SAW HIM AT THE DAYTON NUTTER CENTER,IN OHIO IT WAS A CHRISTMAS CONCERT. 1999 I SAW HIM AT OHIO STATE FAIR. THEN 2000 WE MOVED IN OUR NEW HOUSE. I THINK OUR LAST TIME WE SAW HIM WAS IN 2000. WE LIKE TO GO SEE HIM AT THE OHIO STATE FAIR BUT I DON'T THINK I WILL GET THE CHANCE AGAIN CAUSE OF MY DISABLED SON CAUSE WE NEED SOMEBODY HER TO WATCH HIM AND FEED HIM CAUSE HE IS G-TUBE FED. HOPEFULLY I GET TO SEE HIM AGAIN IN CONCERT AND OF MY RIGHT EAR IS 100% HEARING LOST.

That's a great story! I wonder if George Strait remembers opening that night?
I have been a VG fan about 11-12 years. A girl I worked with at the time really liked him and he was coming here to Lexington for a concert. I believe he sold out Rupp Arena which would be over 23,000 people. Got hooked at that concert, (Patty Loveless was with him) and have been an admirer since. I have been fortunate to see him numerous times in concert, and once at the opry, not nearly as many as Kathy (90 concerts is great!) And will keep going as long as I can afford it! I have recruited my daughter in law as a fan, and although he groans about it, my husband is also a fan...not quite FANactic but he does like the music. Kay S.

Well, I guess I'm a 'newbie fan' compared to alot of you!!! I have loved great country music off and on since I was in high school...ummm, in the early 80's. But, I never was much of a 'concert goer' back in those days. It wasn't until after Bruce & I married that we started going to alot of concerts and shows. The first time I saw Vince live was at the Exit/In when he was preparing for the NBT tour. Then we saw him again in March, 2003 in Atlanta and got to meet him for the first time at the bus after that concert. What a great night that was!!! It was then that we wondered why we hadn't been going to see these great concerts all along!!! And we've spent the past 3 years or so making up for it!!! Since we live about 3 1/2 hours from Nashville, we go to the Opry several times a year, to fan fair every year and we try to catch as many Vince concerts/events as we possibly can. As much as we love Vince's music and think he is so mega-talented, we are truly thankful as well for the friends we have made as a result of being in his fan club. You guys are just the greatest!!! We belong to several other fan clubs, but this one is my HOME!!!

Well, I pretty much consider myself a fan of Vince's for 7 or 8 years now. It's just that we didn't have a chance to see Vince until 3 years ago and I guess that's when I started following his music and his talent more closely. I've been 'hooked' since 'I Still Believe In You'...and I'm so happy he is singing this song during the tour this year...thrills me to hear him sing it LIVE!!!

Wow, I am amazed at how many of us were hooked on him so fast!! It sure doesn't take long to get hooked, does it? His voice just captures me & what makes it so much better is how down-to-earth he is! He is definitely the "aww, shucks" guy of country music! I have seen him in concert 3 times & one other time at a memorial concert last year, but 4 times to see him has not been enough! I definitely want to see him again!
I had to laugh at the story about George Strait opening for him! How funny! I think that's great though!

Here's my story:
I have been listening to country on and off but never had a real country music station in my area. I was in rock & roll, pop, and even classical until I got cable TV when I moved out to San Diego and started watching the Opry on TNN. I became a Vince fan when Dolly brought out Vince to sing "I'll Always Love You" on the Opry. I had heard about him that he was a great singer but never put the voice and the face together until that night. I didn't know he was a great guitar player too. That was 1995, the Souvenirs album was out and it wasn't until I got that and read the liner notes that I found out about his guitar playing too.
I'm jealous that alot of you got to see Vince in concert so early. When I grew up on Long Island nobody went to concerts, there really weren't too many places to see concerts out there then. And when I moved out to San Diego I really didn't have the money to see concerts until last year. I saw my first two Vince concerts last year and am now hooked. Can't wait until Vegas.

I have been a Vince Gill fan for a little over 15 years now. I started listening to country music at that time when a co-worker tuned into a country station while we working over-time. I signed up for a bus trip to see Vince, but the trip was cancelled the night before. It was supposed to have been my first country concert. I wish I had known ahead of time and I would have driven myself to the show!! The next summer I did get to see Vince and I remember getting goose bumps when he sang. I was hooked in a HUGE way!! I've managed to see Vince just about every year except when he skipped us one year. I've lost count, but I have scrapbooks that I need to go back and count up the shows. I've been to shows in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York. I've also gone to his Celebrity Basketball Game and Concert twice. I've seen him at the Grand Ole Opry several times, Fan Fair, several of the City of Hope Softball challenges, a few awards shows, the Grand Ole Opry at Carnegie Hall last year and at his 2003 Fan Club Party. I've been lucky to meet him a half dozen times. The thing that first hooked me with Vince was his unbelievable , musical talent, but I've come to admire him for his character as well. And, we all know he's one handsome guy! In the words of country columnist, Hazel Smith, he's "plumb perfect."

I will never forget the day I fell in love with Vince!! It was Sept. 8, 1995 at 7:30pm at the Brown County Arena in Green Bay, Wisconsin!
I loved his songs on the radio but never saw him before that night. Wow! I tell you...when he walked out onto that stage and started singing "When Ever You Come Around" I was in total SHOCK!

He was the most handsome guy I have ever seen!! And to have that sweet voice coming out of that beautiful face...it was pure heaven!
I was so overcomed by this awesome guy that I cryed like a baby!
I was with some of my sisters and they looked at me like I was a crazy person! They asked me what I was crying for and all I could get out of my mouth was,"I...I...I love him!" It was weird! And when Vince got a standing ovation I couldn't get my knees to work to get to a standing position! I was completely at the mercy of Mr. Vince Gill!!
And ever since that night he has been my favorite singer!
I grew up totally in love with the Beatles and no one else! but... if they were still around and I had to chose between seeing them or Vince...I sure wouldn't have to think about it!! It would be VINCE!
Vince...you are AWESOME!
Hey, VGsmy Idol...great question and Thanks for taking me back down memory lane!

Well, my story is similar to many others. I first heard Vince on the radio around 1992/1993 with I Still Believe in You being my first favorite. I used to live near Branson, MO (as Valerie knows) and my Mom told me she had tickets for the Grand Palace that week (summer of '93), did I want them. I said sure and didn't even know who was performing. So I went and lo and behold, I have been a diehard fan ever since.
I've been lucky enough to see Vince 9 times, with the 10th time being day after tomorrow in Seattle (I know live near Seattle, instead of Missouri). I've managed to drag my husband to 6 concerts and friends to others. My husband kind of sort of likes Vince. He likes his more uptempo stuff, rather than the ballads. He likes the concerts though because Vince is more free with the guitar solos.
I've been super lucky enough to meet him a few times. I am thinking about taking Thursday off and hanging around the concert venue all day in hopes of seeing him, I would really like to get the box for These Days autographed.
I don't post much on here, but I do get on and read other posts often.

Hi Karen, Welcome to the board. Come on out with those postings.
I hear there's rain in Seattle. One of my daughters lives in Bellevue. She has been in the State a little less than a year. Vince probably won't be playing any golf while there. You are going to just be blown away with this concert. Have a wonderful time and come back and let us know what you thought of the show.

I've been a fan of Vince's since 1989 and I've been hooked ever since. It's just hard NOT to be a fan of somebody who's heart is such a blessing to others. His music is just the best.
Karen, welcome to Vince's extended family! You'll love it here.
