Hi everyone. I have been a Vince Gill fan for a long time, but have never posted on here before. But I just had to tell you all what a great time I had at the concert last night in Escondido! First off, I had a Meet & Greet, which was fun. I had Vince sign my "Oklahoma Rising" CD, which he held up to show a couple of his buddies who were standing in the back of the room. My picture turned out yukky - I must have blinked because my eyes are closed. But I was thrilled to have been able to meet him and get my autograph. The concert was fantastic! Vince sounded great and the band was awesome! And of course, you all know how very funny he can be.

No offense to Vince, but the highlight of the evening for me was an appearance by Patti Page. She was in the audience and Vince asked her to come on stage and sing "The Tennessee Waltz." He told the story of how his Mom taught him to dance the waltz to that song. So, it was special for her to be there to sing it. He was supposed to sing with her, but he got all choked up and couldn't do it. But what he did do was dance the waltz with her during the song. It was so sweet. I had tears in my eyes. Not only because it was so sweet, but because "The Tennessse Waltz" was my favorite song when I was a little girl. I played that old 78 over and over again. It was such a thrill to see Patti Page singing it. When it was over, Vince said he was going to have to take a "crying break." He said that was something he would cherish for the rest of his life.

Also, Amy was there and sang 3 songs with him. So, all in all it was a fantastic night!

I'm a little jealous right now. I'm only 35 minutes away and was thinking all day yesterday I should have been at that concert but decided to do the Vegas ones instead.

It sounds like another grest Escondido concert. Last year's was great too. 3 1/2 hours of all Vince.

BTW, someone has posted on Amy's message board about this concert too. One song Amy sang was "Tell Me One More Time About Jesus".

What a special night Vince and Patti Page singing the Tennessee Waltz. Vince talked at the NC concert about him momma teaching him to waltz and that is the only dance he knew how to do.

I love the song Tennessee Waltz and would have loved to been there to see Patti and Vince waltzing to the song. What a memory you will have.

Can't think of anything else to say except, "WOW"! Would have loved to have been at that concert!

Yes, it is too bad you missed it, Joan. It was even better that last year's - and I didn't think that was possible!

Amy sang "Tell Me One More Time about Jesus" and "Whenever You Come Around." I can't remember the third one - maybe there were only those two. Having a senior moment here! But it was fun to see her sing with him and not just as a back-up singer like on the CMA's.

I forgot to mention that we had an extra ticket, so we took my husband's cousin at the last minute. She isn't a country music fan and had barely heard of Vince, but after the concert she had definitely become a fan!

Thanks again for sharing about the concert with us...Bruce & I were hoping that maybe Amy would have made it to the Mobile or Duluth concerts a few weeks ago...well, there's always the chance that she will travel with Vince to Vegas next month!!!

Wynotts ,welcome to the board, what an awesome night you had, and to get to see Vince and Patti waltzing togetherand i always loved that song, loved your review, felt like i was there. you always have an awesome time when you go to hear Vince and get to meet him.Oh!!!
and to have AMY there with him to sing.It seems if we hear Vince sing once we want to hear moreof him.
