Full Version: Example of Heavy Rotation....

When looking at the media charts I found one thing amazing...the #1 song by Carrie Underwood....is played by almost all stations 40 to 50 times a week (7-8 spins a day) - which is very heavy rotation...(every 3-4 hours you hear her song).

However one station from Dallas played here song 97 times in one week....that's almost 14 times a day! or once every 1.7 hours...amazing!
(Is she from Dallas?)

No wonder there is only enough room for about 10 to 15 songs on a playlist....they take up all the airtime!

Do you think that everyone else is as tired of hearing the same old songs over and over again as we are??? I simply can't stand to hear the same songs played all the time every day...it really gets old. I would love to have a radio station around here that really liked to play requests from listeners. I can count several really good songs that I am SO TIRED of hearing because radio just plays them ALL THE TIME...so instead of making me want to buy that album, I'm so sick of the song by the time radio gets thru with it, that I don't care anything about listening to that artist again for a long while. So, what is radio's point with playing the same thing over and over again??? Besides driving us all crazy!!!

Becky - Please know I agree with you 100% - need more variety....more requests...

I have heard radio does that as most fans only listen a few hours a day....so they want to play the hits when they actually listen....not sure if that's true or not.

Well, I can say that I generally cannot stand to listen more than 2 hours at any given time!!! It really gets on my nerves when they play the same song again after only an hour or two, or they decided to play the same artist's songs several times in the space of an hour or two...I can understand these 'triple play' things, when they play 3 songs from one artist at a time, but when they randomly are playing the same artist like every other song, that just irritates me and I turn off the radio. I listen to the radio for variety..and there is NO variety in radio anymore. That's when I turn off the radio and listen to my cds...if I want to hear 1 artist, I want that to be my artist of preference...not the radio's!!!

About the requests...our local radio stations (we have 2 country stations) does not even answer their request lines...so, I'm wondering why they even list them??? I've hit a brick wall lately with emailing requests as well..I used to get some response from one of the local PD's...but I think he's gone now and I can't get a response from anyone at either station..not even the dj's...so frustrating...

She might as well be ,Charlie, she's from Oklahoma................home of some of the best .

I agree on getting tired of hearing the same songs. Sometimes it makes you not care much for the artist. Not their fault. I love Carrie. I just want Vince's music played more too.

I can remember a time that it was Vince's songs played many, many times a day. OH, how I long for those days. HMMMMM - I guess that's what people mean by, "THE GOOD OLE' DAYS"!!! I miss Vince so much on the radio!!!

Valerie, I have heard Vince comment on the lessor songs in the play list now. Back then the play list were 30 to 40 .His words not mine. Now he says they are only about 20 .That is half and we have bijillions of artist out there. I think there are very few with the staying power today like years back. I guess they have to grab it while they are hot but I don't have to like it .I am getting xm. Anyone have any idea which would be the best XM or Sirrius ?
