December 8, 2006--Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bob Seger stops in Nashville for a concert on Saturday, December 9, and it'll be a sort of homecoming since the singer's latest album, Face the Promise was recorded in Music City. Although it's not a country album, Bob says, "It's hard to go wrong with any musician you find in Nashville."
He tells The Tennessean, "I hear a lot of Eagles influence, a lot of John Mellencamp's influence and some of my influence on country radio. A lot of times, our music was almost country in its approach, because I've always been a sucker for a great acoustic piano and guitar."
The album includes a duet with Patty Loveless ("The Answer's in the Question"), someone Seger says he's been a fan of for years. "I've been buying her albums since day one. The first song of hers that knocked me out was "Half Over You" from her first album (in 1987). She and Vince Gill were the two who really brought me into country music. I fell under their spell, and I always wanted to do a duet with her."
