Americana/Country artist and legendary singer/songwriter Rodney Crowell to team up with Vince Gill, Elizabeth Cook and other performers for a unique event to benefit MusiCares®. The Celebrity Barn Dance and Benefit Concert will take place on Saturday, August 31 at 7:00pm at The Jaeckle Centre, Nashville’s premier equine facility and the largest barn in the south.

VIP patrons will enjoy a reception, meet and greet, dinner, wine tasting, live auction and a star-studded celebrity lineup for the barn dance and concert that will benefit a worthwhile cause. MusiCares® provides a safety net of critical assistance for individuals working in the music industry during times of need.

Crowell had a desire to create an event that would recognize his traditional country roots and create an atmosphere where patrons could participate in a barn dance. The event is described as fun and elegantly casual and patrons are encouraged to wear their boots and bling to this amazing event that promises to be one of the most unique fundraisers in the area.

“The Jaeckle Center is an ultra-modern equine facility and it’s the perfect setting for an old fashioned barn dance,” said Rodney Crowell. “Teresa Jaeckle and I stumbled upon the idea of hosting a dance to raise money for MusiCares®, an organization that provides assistance to musicians during troubled times. Vince Gill, Elizabeth Cook and I have tapped some of Nashville’s finest players to provide the music and we expect a few friends to drop in unannounced for an evening filled with mirth and merriment.”

GRAMMY award winning Rodney Crowell migrated from Texas to Nashville in the 1970s and honed in on his musical skills with Emmylou Harris’ Hot Band and toured with The Cherry Bombs before embarking on his solo career with the 1988 release Diamonds and Dirt, which charted an unprecedented five #1 hit singles. Crowell released his album, KIN in 2012, followed by the 2013 release of Old Yellow Moon, a collaborative effort he created with his dear friend Emmylou Harris, who was the first artist to record a Rodney Crowell song in early 1970s – introducing the world to his music. Crowell is as prolific today as he was thirty years ago and has joined an elite class of masterful storytellers whose words in print and in song can open the mind and speak directly to the heart.

Crowell’s long-time friend, Vince Gill, a fellow GRAMMY winner, is a top-notch songwriter and world-class guitar player – all wrapped in a warm tenor voice. He achieved his big breakthrough with “When I Call Your Name,” which won the Country Music Association’s Single of the Year award. Since then, he has won 17 more CMA honors, including Song of the Year four times – making him the most-awarded artist in that category in CMA history. The Academy of Country Music has handed Gill 8 awards, including their prestigious “The Home Depot Humanitarian Award” and the 2011 “Career Achievement Award.” Since 1990, Gill has received 20 GRAMMY Awards and has sold more than 26 million albums.

Elizabeth Cook is a relentless performer, touring worldwide, including well over 200 performances at The Grand Ole Opry. Cook currently hosts, “Apron Strings”, weekday mornings on Sirius XM’s Outlaw Country channel. In 2011, Elizabeth Cook was asked to participate in Strawberry Music Festival’s Sunday morning gospel show. She reluctantly agreed, but by the time she was halfway through her set, she was surprised by how much she was moved by this music. Perhaps she shouldn’t have been; it reconnected her with music that was central to her Florida upbringing. She was moved enough to record a seven song EP of some of her favorite Southern Gospel songs (well, six Gospel songs and a cover of Velvet Underground’s “Jesus”). The EP, titled Gospel Plow, was released on June 12th, 2012.
