‘THE CHOICE’ ALL-STAR SINGLE HELPS DELIVER 30,000 PAIRS OF SHOES WORLDWIDE

Through the efforts of 19 of country music’s biggest stars, including Vince Gill, Keith Urban, Reba McEntire and Alan Jackson, more than 30,000 people around the world, many of them children, have received a pair of shoes, thanks to the recently-released single “The Choice,” which featured those artists and more on the tune, proceeds from which benefit the nonprofit organization Soles4Souls.

“I always took for granted the significance of owning a pair of shoes, but I never will again,” says multi-platinum-selling singer Billy Gilman, who co-wrote the song and spearheaded the effort to bring all of the artists together.

MUSIC CITY WALK OF FAME INDUCTEES DECORATE AND AUTOGRAPH DONATED BOOTS FROM DURANGO FOR A CHARITY AUCTION

The Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau is partnering with
Durango for a charity auction to benefit Music City Inc. Foundation. Music legends Little Richard, Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Kid Rock, Keith Urban, Vince Gill and more have autographed or customized a pair of Durango boots.

The Durango boots will go live for bids on eBay beginning on April 19th at 7 p.m. PST and run through April 29th. Bids for the boots can be made by going to http://is.gd/visitmusiccity.

OKLAHOMA TODAY RELEASES COUNTRY MUSIC ISSUE FEATURING SIX COVERS

Tomorrow, Oklahoma Today’s Country Music issue will land on newsstands across the state, the first comprehensive exploration of the genre in Oklahoma Today’s fifty-five-year history and the first time the magazine has printed six collectible covers.

“With our state’s incredible history and talent in every conceivable facet of country music, even we are a little surprised it took us fifty-five years to produce this issue,” says Steffie Corcoran, editor in chief of Oklahoma Today. “It includes a state-of-the-genre feature written by Holly Bailey, senior political reporter for Yahoo! News; a discography by Ryan LaCroix; and a history piece on Roger Miller by Randy Krehbiel. Thanks to a suggestion from our publisher, Joan Henderson, we made the decision to publish six covers.”
